Isn't this gorgeous? I feel like I've been wearing a lot of blue's lately lol but I haven't really lol...I just had on pink but it wasn't picking up well on the camera at all!! But I had to blog about this blue because it is soooo gorgeous! I got crazy compliments and ppl asking me what it was and all that....I think the camera tamed it but it really is a well...."Bolting Blue"!!!!

Clean & Clear and Baby Bottom Smooth!

The product I want to talk about today is none other than the above pictured, Clean & Clear Soft In-Shower Facial!

I bought this on Friday and HAD to try it out that night! I was so intrigued....it's supposed to detoxify, smooth and soften your skin.....who doesn't want that right?!

So I used it as directed, by applying a generous amount to my face, avoiding the eyes and let it sit for a minute. Then I massaged my skin to exfoliate (the beads feel like they are REALLY doing some good damage!!!) and then rinsed off....pat dried. Then you're supposed to apply moisturizer....but before I applied moisturizer I had to touch my face to see if this really lived up to it's smooth and soften claims......and MY GOOD GRACIOUS GOSH it did! I loveeee this stuff! Beats me as to why I took so long to try it but I'm so glad I did!! My face felt sooooo, sooooo smooth, like my title suggests, baby bottom smooth and moist!!! You are to use this 1-3 times a week so I shall def be using it tonight!!

It's oil-free & non-comedogenic too....and is made with natural fruit acids and works with the steam from your shower to deeply cleanse your skin.

Okay, I took this with my cell phone but check out my under eye area?!?!?!

This is the Cinema Secrets Professional Secrets Concealer. The shade is PS602S-65.

Lately, or ever since two years ago I've been on the hunt for a really good concealer....they've never had a shade lighter than NC42 in Jamaica (i'm NC42 btw) and so I've always thought about trying a liquid one or something, but those just don't work. I've tried using regular foundation with a lighter powder....all kinds of experiments, but I'm proud to say that 'this is it'! That movie was awesome! lol....anyway, I remember using a Suki Concealer some time last year, I used that till it was finished, and while it's all natural and did a decent job...doesn't compare to the coverage and brightness I get with this!

It is a VERY creamy concealer, with yellow undertones, that you only need a TEENY BIT of, because a little goes a realllly long way! It comes in a little pot like the MAC ones and contains 025 oz and 7.5gm. For this pic, I used a fluffy blending crease brush (not a dense one) to blend it out and then I set it with a velour puff and Maybelline's Oil Free Loose Powder in Light. Which I find gives added coverage because it also has a yellow undertone...think Ben Nye's Banana Visage Powder......sooooo this is my ultimate concealer combo now! :) I've always liked using a lighter, yellow undertone powder for under the eyes to catch fall out, and used to use the Milani Brightener, but that's been discontinued, so I've now found refuge in the loveliness of this Maybelline one... :) LOOOOVEEE ITTTT!

PS. The lipgloss is Maybelline's Wet Shine Diamonds Liquid lipgloss in Rhinestone Pink #20 and Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush l/g in I think either Strawberry Fizz or Grapefruit Blast on top! I'm in love with that maybelline lipgloss now, it's such a pretty yellow pink...that gives me that ever ensued natural light pink lip! :) Ya kno me! I don't see it on the website anymore tho...sucks...only Ebay etc.

Maybelline Mascara Showdown!

So my thoughts??

Of all three, Lash Stiletto is the one I love the most! It gives me lots of length and even volume!! I seriously love this one!!!

Okay, I'm trying not to be biased because I have the Lancome Oscillation mascara (thanks to DE from beautylogicblog.com - I won this) but Pulse Perfection didn't come close for me! I don't know if this is because the formula is waterproof...since I haven't used waterproof in a while, I have no idea if they are usually a bit drier in formulation than regular mascaras... but this certainly didn't give my lashes any drama! The button requires much more effort as well than Oscillation, and I could see this annoying some ppl. I mean I had to seriously use strength to press this thing, whereas with Oscillation you just barely touch it and its good to go! ANDDD if I didn't have Oscillation, I still wouldn't be over the moon with this mascara....I much prefer Lash Stiletto or my all time fave for Maybelline the Define-a-lash Volume! I remember the first time I used the Oscillation mascara, I almost jumped out my skin because my lashes looked sooooo false!!! Geez I got tons of length and volume...love at first sight practically....not to mention the wonders of going over the lashes after with the Lancome Hypnose mascara wand...now that for me is magic! I think my next mascara purchase will be Hypnose!

Colossal I didn't love the first time I tried at a beauty supplies store, but decided to try it anyway! And I must say it's really not that bad lol! I love this one too, maybe not as much as Lash Stiletto but this one impressed me more than Pulse Perfection....for sure! I know that in the pic I only have it on the lower lashes but actually, for me, this is where it counts! If a mascara doesn't make those lower lashes look like they came right off of a doll..don't even bother with it! LOL! I think Colossal did a much better job on the lower lashes than the Lash Stiletto tho, based on the pic especially! So...just goes to show, don't knock it till you tried it! :)

Here's a beautiful blue for you to feast your eyes on! :) I bought this blue and blogged about it a long time ago and just never tried it yet! Tsk tsk tsk, so many to try, only two hands!

But alas, it makes its debut! It's such an eye-popping bright blue with turquoise shimmer/iridiscence! I love it....it went on very smoothly too, unlike an Essie i just tried...:( Anybody know how to get Essie light pinks to work?

Avon Nail Polish Swatches

Hey lovelies!

It's been forever right? I dunno...just haven't been feeling very enthused about posting anything in particular lately..but today I have something to show you! They are nail polishes from Avon : Textured Teal and Nocturnal. Avon has a special now, so I got them both for $5.99.

They both applied pretty well! The brush was the perfect size, and Textured Teal, if applied properly and carefully, grants us the luxury of only having to use one coat! It's that rich!! It's not really what I thought it would've been because when I think of teal, I think of more of a green-blue with more green, this looked more like their other nail polish called Classic Fit, well based on the swatch in the book. It is more like navy blue if you ask me...but while this is debatable I still love the colour and shall rock the heck out of it! :)

Nocturnal is a medium brownish-gray colour that I really love. There is no getting Sephora by OPI's Metro Chic out here....but I love that colour and that was my sole inspiration for trying this! Although this is more brown than grey obviously, i still love it! It's different from any other nail polish I own and trust me I have like 50 bottles or more now....(smh) and that's one thing I love about it..it's quite a unique shade for JA....ie. :)
Another bonus for Avon polishes are that they are formaldehyde, phthalate, and toluene free! YAY!

Lipgloss....my addiction lol

So, I've been on the hunt for a lipgloss that will make my lips look like they're naturally light pink (without having to put on a lipstick to create that light pink). Shimmer....shine...are a bonus!

So, I was looking for a MAC lipgloss called Morning Glory that I know does that, which is realllly pretty as well....I couldn't find that, but I found MAC's lipglass in Cultured which is a tad darker but gives that light pink, shimmery effect. So while in the store, I was about to purchase Cultured, then I don't know, I started browsing The Body Shop lippies and found one that looked exactly like Cultured....obviously for half the price lol if not half, obviously less. So, with baited breath I took The Body Shop's Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in Party Pink. After the deed was done, immediately I wiped off what I had on my lips in hopes that this would not disappoint. I had no prior experience with any of The Body Shop's lipglosses so I had no idea what on earth to expect!
So anyway, I applied it and needless to say grinned from ear to ear, thrilled that it was indeed exactly what I wanted!

There are so many good things to say about this lipgloss....it's nice and sticky ( I LOVE STICKY), to me, sticky means a longer wear, but I also noticed that my hair didn't stick to my lips as much as it does with other glosses, so good for them on that! The other thing is, it really is SHINE, it's super sparkly as well, all the micro multi-coloured sparkles really amp up this gloss. Lastly, the scent....the website says it's passion fruit, it is sooooo yummy!!!!!!! The website also says this about it:

Provide effective hydration with an ultra-glossy, dermatologist-approved formulation that is long-lasting and non-sticky.
Moisturizing Community Trade marula oil from Namibia helps to repair skin’s moisture barrier, leaving lips soft and supple.

All in all, I'm in love...I've even eaten and had a drink and my lips still felt like my gloss never moved...didn't look in a mirror but I could feel that it was still there... I'm so impressed and glad that I tried this. I had this weird preconceived notion that these glosses were going to be more on the slippery side (Cover Girl Wet slicks) and not so pigmented (think some of the Beauty Rush glosses) but it is not!!! For which I am glad!!!

Touching Thursdays : The Power Of The Tongue

Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

We hear it all the time, that the things we say greatly impact our lives and those around us as well....but do we really take heed and understand what this means? I mean, if you were a child with a relative that always told you you would amount to nothing, or that you were worthless and dunce, that might have done 1 of 2 things. 1. Made you eventually believe it, or 2. Gave you the motivation to prove them wrong....Death and Life.

So let's remember this today, and get the courage to always try to be our most positive selves. Speak healthy, positive things over our lives and the lives of those around us....and remember the power of words and the power of the tongue.

How are you??? I hope that everyone is having a wonderful week!!!

I went to the media launch for a TV show I'm working on (makeup). It was a lovely night, we did a lot of work....lol. Anyway, I thought I'd share some pics!! :)

Eyes - NYX (loose pigment) in Mocha on lid up to crease, with a little NYX pigment in Walnut on the outer V, MAC All that glitters to blend crease out, and MAC Blanc Type under the brows for highlight! :) & HIP creme liner. For the lower lash line:- MAC Vanilla on inner 1/3, then MAC Chartreuse pigment, then Teal Pigment then Grape pigment. Lashes were done with a coat of Lancome's Oscillation Mascara then I used the Hypnose wand to really stretch those babies out!!! This is my favourite thing to do right now. I love that Hypnose brush boi!

On my lips I wore Milani's Lipstick in Attitude with some L'Oreal Colour Juice lipgloss in Strawberry Smoothie on top!

Okay.... I was so excited to share this with you my lovelies, but now that I'm looking around online, it seems that you may not be able to find this anywhere as this was a limited edition item. :( It's soooooo the perfect peachy pink with golden shimmer nude. It feels so good on, has a nice peppermint burst and it's just sooo pretty...I haven't like tested it through eating or anything like that but who cares about staying power lol, I love my lipglosses to have a bit of stickiness to it and this does, just a bit though, it's def not as thick as VS beauty rush l/g or Dazzleglass, it's perfect actually!!! Just as long as it's not runny/too slippery on my lips, we can talk business! I personally am not fussy like that, it feels moisturizing too, the website says it has all kinds of goodies in it like retinyl palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, ascrobyl palmitate, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, rosa canina fruit extract, avocado fruit extract, mallow extract, sunflower seed extract, matricaria extract and peppermint oil. Thankfully, it also has my fave type of applicator, a brush :) When I first opened it I was like, why does it smell like that, I was actually skeptical...it was like a mix between mint and chemical LOL, I was like okay, let me test it on the back of my hand, the colour was so gorgeous....I put it on my lips right away.....and I fell in love! I then realized the thing had peppermint in, I could feel the cooling sensation on my lips, I think it plumped them up too!! I don't smell it when it's on my lips though, unless I'm like reallllly trying lol.

Here it is on my lips. Now my lips are really pigmented...so I could only pray and hope that this actually would show up on me, to my fabulous surprise it did, and I remember having an Almay whipped gloss in the past and I remember not liking it....so you understand this was a risk for me lolol....but being less than US$10 I thought I'd try it, esp since I always have to mix things to get a colour like this. I'M SOOOO GLAD I decided to give this a whirl! I'm in love....about to go scout for backups!

The good thing about this kind of colour in the US/UK is I'm sure it's readily available if this is in fact no longer available....but in Jamaica....THIS is DEF not your everyday trip to the drugstore type of find....nope, for eg. out here, they have every shade in the Revlon Matte lipstick collection EXCEPT Nude Attitude! Good thing I got it on my NY trip!!!! And this is because the distribution company decided not to bring that one in, I guess they think no one would buy it....HELLO!!! some of us Jamaicans actually love Nude lips!! Geez....anyway, have a nice day ladies, it's National Heroes Day here and so I have hubby all to myself today haha ;)

I haven't done a "Touching Thursdays" blog post in a while I know, but today while watching Joyce Meyers this stuck out to me. Sometimes when we are feeling at our worst, that's the time we must give, sow a seed of kindless and love...whether it's just to listen to someone's woes, help someone, smile at someone, tell someone you love them, or God loves them....it makes a world of a difference for not only the person but for YOU! Half the time I give of myself, I am the one that ends up feeling super-duper blessed....so, today, tomorrow...this weekend, do something nice for a random stranger, or for someone you love ;)

My Latest Gathering :) a.k.a HAUL!!

Hey Ladies,

SO....indulge with me in what has been my September/October loves and gatherings :) There were other things too that I didn't include, like my organic Jojoba Oil, a new hair cream and growth oil which I'm loving....I don't post much about my hair so I didn't think I should include but if you wanna know just tell me! Not that I don't love my hair, because I LOVE MY HAIR :) haha and all it's curly goodness!!

....rightfully titled "The Elixir of the Gods" haha....she listed the benefits etc. but she had me at "this made me shine less under my makeup". She said after two nights of using this after cleansing, before moisturizing, she went to get tested for foundation at MAC and the artist was like, your skin is beautiful...something she says she never hears....so I had to try....it has been two nights, and I CAN SEE A DIFFERENCE....just looking at my skin, the texture is really smooth and soft looking, and it feels amazingly soft....and my face is indeed less oily (as jojoba oil supposedly tricks your skin into thinking it doesn't need to produce as much oil).....I'm in love!!

This is Chris's Green Belt
The Art Deco Forest Green, this is actually for patterns and stuff, but I had been searching all over for a green like this so I bought it anyway and stuck a regular brush in and voila :) Chipped and had edge wear by the second day though, something which never happens with me so...I guess this doesn't have lasting power for that full on manicure!

I first smelt this last year around this time too in Ulta, I remember thinking how cookie-ish and yummy it smelt but didn't bother to indulge...a couple weeks ago, I smelt this again and it was love! It's like I'm constantly changing, nail polish colours , lip colours and fragrances I wouldn't have worn in the past I'm loving now! For me, it's really strong (which I LOVE) I love it when people can smell me, it's really sweet, vanillery (haha my word) and then it wears down to an exotic oriental woodsy scent, i truly love this!! :) Yummy!!

Someone I will forever love though is Mrs Mariah Carey Cannon ha! I love her! She basically taught me how to sing, I am forever indebted to you MC! I've been playing this LOUDLY ever since I got it...she has made me cry, smile, and for sure SIINNNGGG.....gotta love her!

It has been a while, I know, but forgive me. I was without the internet for about a week, and when it DID finally come back I got sick....I'm better now though, thank GOD!

After reading about The luck of the UK'ers with the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Ambre Rose, we on the other side of the world, can finally have our own glorious baby pink lol, I still don't think it's exactly like Ambre Rose (which is gorge!) but it is a beautiful baby pink! It is the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Pink Please!
I first heard about this from youtuber - hollyannaeree . She's fab!
I'm a MAC NC42 for reference....

Isn't it FABULOUS!!! This is Pink Please, topped off with my IT lipgloss brand of the moment - L'Oreal's Colour Juice Sheer Lipgloss in Berry Burst and then a little bit of Passion Fruit Pop (Beauty Rush l/g) for that wet look!

Okay...Revlon Lipstick in Twinkled Pink ( IIII LOOOOVE THIS) (above the eye liner swatches), Jordana Easy liner in Blue Demin and Sea Green (dang these are soo pretty and soo inexpensive, creamy and rich! I tried it out after lunch and this is alllll I've been searching for!!! It would seem that I have naturally baby pink or light pink lips...but I don't and that's the point! SIMPLE! This will be the first in a long time that I'll be using a "system" if you may....cleanse, tone, moisturize. I was actually out to get the Simple Facial Wipes, but it seems the store was out and so i said I'd try this instead...Sooooo I'll def tell you how that goes...so far so good though, it's not in the least irritating, and my skin feels reaaalllly soft! I'm loving this so far! The eye makeup remover (the one that's laid down) hmmm....still on the fence, i have to rub quite a few times to get my mascara off....apparently the wipes do a much better job?? ANYWAY....the cost for these are quite reasonable and my skin seems to be loving all this simple goodness so, pure love thus far! :)

So I think everyone knows that the darks are back for fall! We don't have fall in Jamaica but it certainly doesn't stop us from being trendy! Heck no!!! So, this is my first time wearing a real true black nail polish....I never thought I'd wear a black....(Khloé Kardashian made me do it!!) haha, but seriously this is one gorgeous nail polish, not only is it a rich beautiful black but it has light blue/teal/purple flecks in it, colour varies with the angle, which spices it up!!! I looooveeee this nail polish and IT IS Toulene free etc... :) It also wears very well.. I've had it on since last week Tuesday and I took this pic just now, I only had edge wear, but I put nail polish on my edges for the pics. I don't know if it's safe to say this doesn't chip easily, but I do know that my Sally Hansen top coat helps a lot, and also I think a major factor may be in the application. I always seal it on the edge of my nail after every coat.

This looks like it could come from the Barielle Fall Collection for 2009 called All Lacquered Up....except this only costed $1.99.

I am just sooooo lovin' Dr. Oz's new talk show!!!! If you don't know Dr. Oz, then you should know that he's an accomplished Doctor and has been a featured health expert on the Oprah Winfrey show for a number of years who now has his own show!!! It's like it was made for us women, I mean he even had a show where he talks about the bacteria living in our handbags, and on our makeup, cell phones, ...the VAGINA....underwear...how to wash your thong!!!Anyway...of course he discusses other important things like food, weight, swine flu, even poop. This is very important to our health ladies, to have our insides working well so that we can be beautiful without the need for a lot of topical "stuff". I can't get enough of Dr Oz's Show and if you can, I think you should check it out!! You can watch video clips and read articles from the show on his website too, drozshow.com .

Today however, he addressed the 10 major agers that can be found in our homes! This can be found here for greater detail. But the one I am going to mention is Toulene....yes, we all know it, cause it's all up in our nail polishes!!!

Toluene, a solvent found in nail polish, paints and when petroleum-based paraffin candles are burned can cause nervous system damage. Naturally scented beeswax, soy or vegetable candles and natural alternatives to nail products are a better choice.

On a side note, I'm really loving the Wendy Williams show!!!! (Woot woot) haha, she is so vibesy, and she is ever keeping it real!!! I love how she talks with her guests, her expressions, just hilarious...so check her out too! I'm also loving the Tyra Show this season too!!! Are you feeling her natural hair? Kudos to her for doin that! Also, One Tree Hill is backkkk :) YAY!!!! And I'm liking The Vampire Diaries!! I'm hooked on the CW on week nights lol...AND late nights are for Sex and the City re-runs!! Gracious me, it's September ALREADY!!! It's been about two weeks since I posted an entry, I know, it's because I have been away for the past two weeks. I went to Boston, Worcester, and NY then back to Boston to come back to JA!

It was really a great time, I went up for a Gospel Concert in Boston which was such a blessing! God works in mysterious ways I tell you, and when we don't understand what is taking place, just trust and you will see it all come together. The only sad thing was I had to leave hubby for the ten days and I'd never left him like that before...so you can imagine the reunion when I got back home right? hahahahaha It's soooo great to be home!

Okay back to the fun part, when I got to NY the REAL shopping started! All the things I'd ever read about online and all the collections and all the drugstore products that are not in Jamaica...this was now my chance to browse and see for myself. It was soooo great to see all the things I'd read about for so long! I bought a bunch of stuff...from Revlon lipsticks, the infamous Nude Attitude from the Matte Collection, finally I was able to get the Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara, and thanks to GinaBinaWina99 from Youtube I also got the Glam Eyes lash flirt mascara and the Jordana fabuliner! The fabuliner seems great!!! I haven't tried it on my eyes yet, but because it's a pen it seems to give lots of control helping you to make the best line possible. I bought two of those just in case I fell in love, I mean it's only $1.99 I wish I bought the remaining 3 haha. I also got some L'Oreal Color Juice sheer glosses - Bubblegum and Tutti Frutti. I couldn't find Bubblegum out here anywhere!!! So that was the first thing i looked for when I got to the drugstore! They are both so pretty and I love my lipglosses sticky, to me that means they will last longer on my lips, and I wore Tutti Fruti one day from about 11:30am till about 6pm and I was snacking and all that and it was still in place. ANDDD it is SUCH a pretty pink!!
I also finally got MAC's Fix +, Blanc Type eyeshadow, a Studio Fix Powder (duty free from the airport), and 2 Dazzleglasses! I LOVEEEE these!! I got Rue D' Rouge and Rags to Riches! Sooo pretty! MY HG for right now are Dazzleglasses. Maybe when I get to owning a YSL, Chanel or Guerlain I will change my mind ;) .
I also got some Jordana eyeliners, which are sooo creamy. I can't believe it!! I will be looking out for some more out here! I also got some of the Victoria's Secret lipglosses, soooo pretty!!!! I'm sure you all know and have tons of those!!
I went to Sephora too, and had a heck of a time! I didn't buy anything though, but it was good to see things in person so now I can buy online! I tried the MUFE Duo Matt Powder Foundation and loved that!!!
On the fashion front, I also got some sweeeet deals on clothes and shoes. It seems I went to the US at the RIGHT time!!! My suitcase weighed like 48 lbs, i went up with 26 lbs....plus a carry on bag with clothes in case you know, you don't get your suitcase! I got lots of tops and dresses and shoes!!! Just what I wanted!! I'm talking about going to Macy's and getting a beautiful dress on sale for $4.99!!!!

This has been long but I just had to share!!!! I'll share some pics soon!!!Alright ladies, hope you all are just as great since the last time I wrote! Let me know how you beauties are doin!!

Someone said to me recently how amazed she was because I seemed to have it all together. She told me I am focused and clear about what I’m doing.

Huh.

In actuality, I’m making my life up as I go and shifting directions all the time. After many years of mastering how to hold it all together, I’ve spent the last couple years learning to fall apart. (Yes, I wrote “LEARNING” to fall apart.)

What I learned is that falling apart is highly underrated.

For years falling apart meant having to face uncertainty and trusting myself to be able to handle whatever came up. I wasn’t willing to go there. So I simply refused to do it.

I clung desperately to things, relationships, places, and jobs even when I knew I needed to let them go. I stayed insanely busy to avoid thinking about how unhappy I was with much of my life. I stayed busy to avoid years of grief and tears that were buried inside waiting for me to fall apart and release them.

On the surface, I appeared successful and put together. I appeared productive and focused. I was. I was successful, put together, productive, and focused on a path that was not my soul path. Not allowing myself to fall apart was keeping me miserable.

I remember clearly the first time I really allowed myself to fall apart. It wasn’t very pretty. I got in my car one night after work and drove nearly 5 hours to the beach. I sat on the beach and sobbed. The blotchy, snot all over your face, gasping for breath kind of sobbing.

I cried for loved ones who had died through the years. I cried for the pain I’d experienced as a child. I cried for knowing that I hated where I lived. I cried for knowing that many of the relationships in my life weren’t healthy ones. I cried for knowing that I was on the wrong career path and didn’t know how to get off. I cried for everything and nothing.

Then I got back in my car and went back to the life I hated.

My hour of falling apart didn’t magically change everything for me. It simply opened up space for change to start. Most importantly, it taught me that I could fall apart and still be okay. I still practice the art of falling apart – but now I do it with a little more grace and acceptance. Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way…

• Falling apart can take different forms.

Falling apart can be internal – taking down protective walls around my heart, releasing limiting beliefs, or simply letting myself cry.

Other times it’s external – quitting the profession I hated, letting go of relationships, getting rid of all the furniture and stuff I no longer liked, or moving to a new state (although, most external falling apart is really an out picturing of internal falling apart).

• Falling apart can be terrifying and messy and chaotic. Or not.

Falling apart isn’t about drama. It’s about release.

Falling apart is the release of what isn’t working in my life. It can be something big or something very simple. I’ve learned that I know more, and can handle more, than I give myself credit for. And that falling apart gets easier with practice.

• Being “in control” makes me feel safe. That’s pretty much the only benefit.

Falling apart, however, has countless benefits. It opens me up. It reconnects me with my heart and soul. It shows me the wisdom and courage I already have. It clears out all the muck I hold inside. Falling apart is healing. It allows me to grow and expand. It shows me beauty and joy and delight. It lightens me.

• Falling apart can create space for something new (and better.)

A mentor of mine talks about trusting passionately in the chaos of the process. That’s what falling apart means for me – trusting passionately in the chaos of my process. Life is all a process. Trusting in that process brings so much freedom and joy.

Trust your process. Un-tether your wings. Discover your joy. Fall apart.

Touching Thursdays: What Have I Done For Me Lately?

Hey ladies!!!! How are you doing today?

Did anyone watch Sister Act 2? If so, can you remember when they sang that song "What have you done for me lately?"...although in this case, we are asking ourselves the question....but that's where it stemmed from.

I battled, well not really... that's a strong word, with what to write about today. I was blank! (Hmmm....writer's block?) But as I sat here it just came to me, I should write about taking care of ourselves. In my last post I spoke about how working for 12 hours each day made me of little use to anyone...it also meant some crazy eating times, which if this had continued for another week I might've gotten sick! Now don't get me wrong, I'm very appreciative that they provided breakfast, lunch and snacks, but the actual time that I got around to eating is a whole different story! I might've taken on too much when it wasn't necessary but I believe it was...at the time, i guess. No regrets!

So, now that it's over, I'm reflecting and thinking do we take care of ourselves enough? It's only if we are in perfect health and shape, mentally, emotionally and physically that we can bring any form of joy or help to anyone else. So today, ask yourself this question, what have I done for me lately? If you can't recall, then please, do something for yourself asap! Pamper yourself a little, give yourself a facial, (recession in mind or I might've said have a spa day), I dunno give yourself a lovely pedicure or manicure, tell yourself, "Self, I love you, you are the bestest self in the whole world!" :) That oughta getcha goin'!

The last thing I did for myself was get those cutesy sandals and the 2 nail polishes and something else which I'm so excited to blog about (soooon) ! Alrighty, let me hear what you've done or are going to do for yourself!!

Oh....Usain has done it again! I'm so proud to be a Jamaican!!!! 2 di werl'!!!!

NOTD & Cutesy Sandals!

Hi hotties! I know it's been forever, I even missed Touching Thursdays last week....but with my 12 hr work days last week, it was almost impossible to get anything done....I was of no use to anyone except the models haha. WOW, that sounds awful, I'm sorry hubby, you were so patient and gracious throughout this whole thing. I love you!!

I got a beautiful set of girls to work with, I can't post any pics yet until the show airs, bummer, I mean, 3 weeks of creating different looks on 7 girls everyday, sometimes twice a day, really got my creative juices going! I came up with some of the most gorgeous looks I've ever done....and they really loved my work, and had complete faith in me. One gorgeous model, said that she doesn't even need a mirror when I do her face, she just trusts me that much, now that makes me feel GOOD!

Now for the goodies....I got a ton of NYX nailpolishes, i'll NOTD them as I get around to them, about 6 in all, and 2 China Glazes. I have always loved China Glaze, but I'm barely in the area of the store that sells them anymore, but I went there yesterday and it wasn't hard to choose these 2, since I'm loving these bright colors, and the rest were just pinks....n God knows I've got a ton of those!

Touching Thursdays: When You Least Expect It!

Hey dolls,

How are you? I'm so tired, doing some really looooonng hours for this project I'm doing makeup for...fortunately, it's a good experience and it came at a time when I needed it! I'm really grateful and thankful for it!

As a result, I'm almost knocking the laptop over falling asleep hahaha. On another note, I recorded a trance song last night, and I mean, it's only because I put myself out there on youtube, and a local DJ heard my songs and sent me the track to listen to why I got this chance. This was last Thursday, when I was writing about believing in yourself and all the drama at the job. The track came when I least expected it, but right on time, I was in a space mentally and emotionally that allowed me to bring forth words lol.....to the song. I'll let y'all hear it once it's done!!!! Sometimes, no everytime, I find that this is how it works, unless you are willing to drop certain guards and put your talents out there, how will you be discovered?

When was the last time something truly unexpected happened for you just when you needed it most?

Touching Thursdays : Believe in yourself!

This week has been a great one so far, of course, not short of trials and challenges in the least! But these things come to help us grow right? We need that for sure!

Today I wanted to talk a little about believeing in one's self. When you're in an environment where you don't necessarily have a support system and people are voicing their opinions about your work and how they would prefer it, whether or not it is flattering on them (yes i'm talking about makeup, but this can be applied in general), it can be frustrating. Especially, when they are all wearing red, and want crazy blue eyeshadows and all that jazz....(yes, I'm venting). This is for a tv show, not carnival, not a photo shoot, not an editorial that requires craziness....is it me? I mean I thought that neutrals, golds, bronzes, smokey eyes best complimented red dresses....I just need some loveee....funnily, it's just one or two of my models that give me this headache...thank GOD for the others, who can appreciate the fact that yes, I would love to get away with the craziness on them but because of this red dress, it just can't be done...not to mention when a friend betrays you....I feel a little overwhelmed right now, but I can also say Charlene, you are awesome, you are blessed and favoured and you are doing well...i've heard :) (i'm just humbling myself....) Right now, it is my belief in myself, in my skills, that is carrying me through, I feel to cry some how...I'm emotional that way, but I also know that this is coming to get me stronger! It's a learning experience that I will count all joy~

So count it all joy ladies, that these trials come to make us stronger, and when no one else around you is willing to be your rock, remember, believe in yourself! You are beautiful, one of a kind, created just right, talented, skilled and well able.

Snifffff, mmmmm, yum!

Has anyone tried those scented Revlon nail polishes yet? I got Pretty in Papaya the other day and man oh man is it gorgeous, summery and smells soooo fruity and yummy like candy! I want to bite my fingers :) It still smells yummy through the top coat too! And all it took was two coats to get the perfect coral colour for summer! :) I'm a happy camper!

9. The gift of giving, I love receiving presents and compliments, but I also love to give them, any chance I get!

10. Sitting home alone...I love being home alone, I get a thrill from it, sometimes I just need my space and home is my territory, I don't want just any and anyone in my home....I'm funny that way.

How many times have we seen this? Or heard this....that a good attitude carries you a far way?
I am here to remind you about that today. No matter who you are, or where you think you are in life, humility and a good attitude are key! The truth is, we are always on display, sometimes you think no one is watching or listening, or is observing how you behave towards a particular thing. Then BAM....the next thing you know, you're being cut from a make-up team because of your constant bickering, complaints and snide, rude remarks. Thankfully, this hasn't happened to me, but I happen to be a part of that team she got cut from.

No matter where you go, you will always find those people who you just know you will knock heads with, or they will make what could potentially be a peaceful place, one of misery! These people are everywhere, they're like garbage trucks, and once we entertain them, they get to dump all their piled up garbage on us.

So go out today, and smile, and be happy, be blessed, think positively, (try at least) and remember, to have a good attitude no matter what!

MAC Lychee Luxe Lipglass + Wedding Makeup I Did!

Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog, recommended this for me when I asked her if she knew what lipgloss or lip colour would match the juice in the pic above. (The juice is a locally made Cherry Juice by Tru Juice). Now, this doesn't exactly look like the pic of the juice I sent but i LOVE IT! The juice matches the L'Oreal Colorjuice Lipgloss in Cherry on Top perfectly! So I got my match, and I got a bonus with this. I love peachy/pink/coral/light red lip colors, I'm just loving nudes now since the whole MAC Myth craze haha...so Lychee Luxe is just up my street. I love the gold flecks and how pigmented it is too! It didn't feel too sticky to me either and is long wearing. I haven't bought a MAC lipglass in a while so it was good to get this one!

We go to the same church, and I am really proud with how it turned out and it helped me to fall in love with being a makeup artist again!! Okay....the finale...for now anyway :) This time around, i was looking for true skin toned nude colours, so that means browns that could pass for my match in a foundation...so with the exception of Darling, that would mean Tea and Perfect Taupe.....(that's what they had) otherwise, I would've tried Echo, Honey, Rea or Circe (tho the latter might have been lighter than my skintone) but you get the point. :)

Touching Thursdays : Be Not Discouraged!

I've been facing some major discouraging remarks lately, which I can only use to fuel the fire within me to pursue my dreams, and realize my goals. So it was only fitting that today I say to you, that it is impossible to please man, but with God as guide, we in pleasing Him and following through on the dreams He has placed in our hearts, can rise and overcome negativity to be who God made us to be.

We won't always live up to other people's expectations of us, and then they are upset and hurl a ton of discouraging remarks....we can only use this as the motivation to get going with our dreams!

So be not discouraged, even if things seem to be moving slowly, remember, the darkest hour is just before the dawn.

Yes...there is more!!!! With all the colours to choose from I found it hard to just like 5....I find that some of them are similar, where two might be the same colour with the difference being one has shimmer the other doesn't. I'm really enjoying them though....so here we go ! :) I'll also include a FOTD with NYX Round Lipstick in Chloe....Such a pretty fuschia!! Out of these I am loving Herades, Eros, Chloe and B52, however Iris when mixed with a bronzey gloss is LOVEEE and Thalia, though it runs a little cool on me, is wearable with a coral or nude gloss on top. I really love these lipsticks.....can you tell?

Touching Thursdays: Prisoner of Hope

I've just been seeing life as a precious gem, and I've been feeling like I have taken so much for granted and I don't want to fall in that trap again. I try to do something with meaning in the daytime, so as not to let the time just fly by without having really added value to my life or someone else's. I'm just all about the love right now, I feel like sometimes I have so much negativity coming at me, and sometimes I fall in the trap. but I am seeking to change that. Two weeks ago, I decided to be a Prisoner of Hope, which means that like a prisoner, I can't do anything else, but HOPE. Having made this choice, I can see where I have effectively put my faith in action, and faith is what gets the Hand of God working...

The day I made that decision, I hadn't been working for quite some time. I am a professional makeup artist, that's what I use to make my livelihood right now. I had only one job in the queue, and so you can say, nothing was happening for me. On the day I became a prisoner of hope, and vowed to remind myself each day that something good was going to happen to me, I got a call for a two week job that would begin the following week! I was floored. I believed that GOD would work it out, but I also couldn't believe that it would be that soon! Forgive my disbelief Lord....so today, I want to inspire you, to be a PRISONER OF HOPE!

I wasn't the one who coined that term either, it's in the Bible....I don't know what you ladies believe or don't believe...but in general, I think it's good principle that could help us all in one way or another! Joyce Meyers is actually the one who I first heard with this...I love her, I watch her everyday almost! She used this example with David from the Bible, Psalms 27:13-14:
[What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living!
14Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.

Then she interpreted it to mean this: What on earth would happen to me if I did not get up everyday thinking something good would happen to me today?

SO...if for one day in your life, CHOOSE to be hopeful! CHOOSE not to let anyone define how much hope you have, CHOOSE positivity and CHOOSE to be a Prisoner of Hope!

Sooooo hellloooo lovely ladies, how are you all today? I'm so very sad over MJ! :( I dressed up like him today, because I often hear that I look like him, I'll include pics lol. I don't know, everyone that performed I just have to give props because it was just such an emotional time, especially with the casket there :( man....Jermaine, Usher and Paris broke my heart. That little boy from Britain's Got Talent was really good though and John Mayer!! Such passionate performances, I'm so glad they had this for him, it was really sad but it was necessary...at least for me, and obviously thousands!

I feel so inspired to do my part to make and leave a legacy, I won't even say like MJ's, but we all have our own paths, I am praying that God will show me mine, because I wanna get started...pray for me! :(

Alright, well, I don't know how many of you watched the Memorial today, even though it was pretty much everywhere! What were your favourite moments?

NYX ROUND LIPSTICKS Part 2 + NOTD!

Hello lovelies!! So the craziness continues with the round lipsticks.....but before I get to that, the NOTD, is a shade I created using a darker purple, white and a purpley-pink...I have an obsession with China Glaze's Spontaneous, but I have never seen it out here so I made what I think it looks like based on my computer's pixelation (if that's even the terminology lol)!

Alright, so the craze continues, I think in all, I have about 23 NYX Round Lipsticks now, so there will be one more post with pics and everything. I didn't get them all at once so that's why I'm putting them in parts.
These lipsticks are so creamy, and moisturizing, I'm really impressed, and the beauty of it, is the array of colours that one can choose from and I got them for like the equivalent of US$1.20 which is great!!!!! No tax or shipping nothing. I'm so glad I was able to find these and in a couple of the shades I'd been lemming...except Indian Pink! I think I definetly have favourites now, they are Perfect, Herades, Watermelon, B52, Frappucino, Miracle, Margerita, Tea, Pumkin Pie, Chloe, Eros and Louisiana.

The NYX Round Lipsticks have been my latest craze, I've just been seeing all my beauty bloggers posting about them and finally I have found some in home country! SOOOOO you can imagine I went crazy! So far I have 19, and there were still other colors I wanted to get. Wow, all I can say is, they are soooo creamy and moisturizing, they go on so well and what a gracious price!!!! I love them!!! Touching Thursdays : Do What You Can With What You Have

This kinda just came to me just now....in a time of despair where the recession looms with no end in sight, so many are laid off, the bills are piling up....etc. It's really easy to give up! But remember that when you were born, there were talents you were born with, whether it be a natural knack for crafts, music, a beautiful voice, whatever it may be, sometimes our greatest resources are the very things we look over....inadvertently maybe, but maybe also because we don't think we're good enough. I say, just do it! Reminded by the death of a legend, we realize that we have to make the most of right now.

So what do you have that you can use? I have my voice, I've been singing since I was born, and yet, I'm so scared sometimes to sing....I'm trying to overcome that and I'm trying to use what God gave me before I lose it! Along with makeup ie.

Let's see what we have, and see what we can do with it!

I can't believe that after writing my post yesterday about living life and making sure to enjoy the gift of life and living it to the ultimate, I now have to write about the death of the GREATEST entertainer the world has ever seen and will ever see.

This is the reason why I sing! I grew up like so many others on his music, Dangerous was the first album I ever owned by Michael Jackson, then I got to know older songs and obviously the newer ones. I was in love with him, oh gosh, do you know when you watch the concerts on TV and you see the people crying and everything? I would be in my parents' room crying watching it on the tube! Man oh man, did I love me some Michael Jackson....I'm deeply saddened, but grateful that he never left us empty handed. He left us with decades worth of creative genius and this truly inspires me to reach for the stars and develop my talent! I heard the song "Cry" by Michael Jackson, and he has a line in it that says, 'we can all cry, at the same time tonight'... truly, the news of his passing made the whole world cry at the same time. I still can't even believe it, it's just not real right now....noooo....

You'll forever be in our hearts Michael, may your soul rest in peace.

Touching Thursdays: LIVE YOUR LIFE!

So this is a very somber post...just last weekend, my Uncle passed away, he was sick and he lived to be 79, but it is never easy to see your loved one be buried into a hollow hole in the ground. :(
It was even more so heartbreaking that the funeral was the day before Fathers Day, and I felt for his 7 children and 22 grandchildren etc.... He had a really great sense of humour and was a really good role model for my Dad since he was about 30 years older than my Dad.
And then just yesterday, I heard that my friend's mom passed away in her sleep...she was pretty young probably in her 50's and it's just sad and it reminded me that, death is certain and to be more positive, that is all the more reason to LIVE!

We have so many fears that stop us from being and doing all we are and living to our full potential! There is so much that we allow to stand in our way, whether it's the daily struggles that we face, or it's that friend we won't forgive, or that person that really hurt us that we said we forgave but we really didn't.....life is just way too precious and valuable for us to not live it to the fullest!

One way of living life to the fullest is being grateful and thankful for everything! OR finding something to be thankful for and taking the time to reflect on these things before going to bed. That helps you to wind down the day, think about alllll the events of the day, and just taking a breather and giving thanks before going to sleep. I have a gratitude book that was put out by THE SECRET (you know that documentary) which helps me to put down on paper what I am thankful or grateful for today and what I want to be grateful for tomorrow! So it also helps me write down my hopes and then I get to measure when it happened.

So what are you thankful for today?? I'm thankful for life itself, and the power of being alive and I'm thinking about what I can do with my life to really live it and make my mark.

What are you going to do to just live your life??

NOTD: L.A. Girl Nail Lacquer - HOT PINK!

I'm in a long nails, bright popping pink mood! So I pulled out my LA Girl Nail Lacquer in HOT PINK to satisfy the craving lol, I've had this polish since earlier this year, but some how I never used it, but right now I am loving it! It's a really jelly like, with no shimmer, and it kinda has an orange/pink shocking vibe, which is great, cuz shocking neon orange just doesn't really work on me....so this lovely mixture is bliss!!

This is with 3 coats and top coat, I think next time I will use a sheer white base coat instead of clear so that the tips of my nails aren't visible...it's very summery isn't it!?

We all need an encourager.

Someone who is truly happy for our successes. Someone who reminds us how strong and powerful we are when we feel momentarily defeated.

Encouragers don’t promise rainbows and sunshine. They promise presence, wisdom and great energy.

They choose to be the mirror that reflects our light.

Using that clear, nonjudgmental, revealing mirror, they reintroduce us to ourselves.

Our encouragers never see us as less than we are. When we’re writhing around in self-pity, they stand a few feet away waiting until we’re over our fit. We look up and there they are again holding the mirror.

We see we’re simply so much more than that moment.

We get up, brush ourselves off, and thank them.

Christine is an amazing encourager. In part because she set the intention to be such a person. And in part because it brings her such joy to reflect another’s light and watch it multiply.

The best way to show gratitude for your encouragers is to be one yourself.

I originally wrote this poem for someone who needed such encouragement. She had spiraled to a place where she could no longer see her true powerful self. The poem made her cry not because she couldn’t believe she was wonderful, but because deep down she knew it to be true.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Purple Potion

This shade is such a beautiful metallic/iridiscent purple with a plum-purple base colour! It has a beautiful violet sheen, which looks more blue in the pics but more purple/violet in real life. It really is one of my favourite purple shades to date! I love purples!! This purple would definetly be flattering on any skintone! I Loveeee! :) Plus, it reminds me of MAC Violet Fire....but not streaky!!!

P.S. I'll show you my newest purples soon....flat and beautiful!!!! Think...China Glaze Spontaneous (which I am lemming!!! and have tried to create!! you know me, if i can't get it, i'll make it!)

ANDDDD it smells sooooooooo good...it's a nice mix of clean and fruit/flower....which is RIGHT up my alley. ANDDDDDD it has collagen and elastin!!!! Good stuff huh??!! I think so!!!

I got sunburnt, despite my sunblock, whilst on a photo shoot on Sunday for my friend's album cover ( I was MUA), and so my shoulders are looking really burnt and dry. I put some of this stuff on my shoulders and sunburn who??? It's looking and feeling sooo hydrated! I have dry skin issues, but my skin is also sensitive so this seems perfect. I have a pesky excema spot that I'm going to see if this lotion irritates. I'm also a paraben free etc etc junkie....where I can really help it, I prefer to go that way! SO i'm really happy about it being paraben free too!

Also the ingredients are just very basic, they even go as far as to say what each is for eg. Cetearyl Alcohol (Stabilize) ... I have always wondered what that ingredient was for!

Milani Neon Lights Nail Polish-NOTD

I'm loving the bright, bold, neon nail trend and I recently got the Milani Nail Polish in Neon Lites (as seen in previous haul blog). Helloooo beauties! Last night, I went to a dinner and grand opening of a newly refurbished store that a close family friend owns, and the dresscode was formal. I didn't have a clue what to wear and I was taking pics of myself in outfits and sending to cousins, friends...for opinions haha...i needed it asap! Anyway, I decided on a lovely regal shade of purple satin top, with tied to the side, H&M black pants ( I LOVE THEM) and threw in the belt (iridiscent purple stones) for some sass and well the shoes dressed it up even more...the bag is Nine West, I wish I had a clutch for that real classy look but such is life!! (That's me and my sis Lisa) My sis, bro and I sang at the event...My sister is so talented, she MADE that dress!

Close up: I used Revlon's Colorstay Foundation in 360, Nixie Ivory 7 for concealer but it's really a creme foundation, Revlon Bronzer for contour and Nicole Miller blush-Peach Satin, lipgloss was one I made myself haha....you know, being broke really unleashes your creative skills! I blended up pinks and peaches with gold and clear glosses to create the perfect coral that I have always wanted...it works because I can control how much pink it has or how much peach....anyway, at this point i might've layered some VS Beauty Rush lipgloss in Mango Madness over it, which is a baby pink with silver sparkle so...that's that for that! :)

I used the new Girlactik eyeshadow in Haute that I blogged about the other day on the lid, and MAC Grey Grape in the crease and Nixie Cosmetics' Latitude for highlight...i am really loving that for highlight right now! it's so buttery and blends so well!!! I lined with L'Oreal HIP creme liner in black on upper lash line, lower lashline was my usual Avaon black liner with Milani's purple liner over top of that! Also, some of the Nixie Latitude was used in the inner corners to brighten! Oh, mascara....I used L'Oreal's 3D lash achitect mascara but with the Voluminous brush, and my customized maybelline wand made to look like the sexy curves wand with Rimmel's Extra Super Lash. Yes...I'm creative that way hahahahaha.

Okay, so i officially just got money and just spent said money on the following goodies haha...all i can say is it better be WELL worth it!!! :)

When I wear my hair curly, i want it to have a lot of body, at the roots, which it doesn't have...it always just gets 'poofy'...rolls eyes...which i hate! geez....but anyway, that's why i got this Garnier Bold It Power-putty, in hopes that will give me that root booster...so i'mma try that!

So I originally only went to the store to get 1 Girlactik lipgloss - Ooh La La Red, and possibly an eyeshadow from Makeup Designory, if they had it...but they didn't so i got that Girlactik eyeshadow in Haute instead...then, ended up getting the Just Sexy Lipgloss...it's so gorgeous...i love corals, it's so perfect! It's pinky, peachy, with gold shimmer! Love!!!

I've really been trying to get some new skin care products, but I can't use any regular brand past two weeks or breakout alert! If it's not natural I can't use it for a long period of time without this breakout happening... I don't know why...but I thought Revaleskin was natural when I heard about it, but I see all kinds of SLS and stuff in the ingredient listing so now I'm not sure, but I'm gonna try it out and see how it goes. I will report back!! I also didn't get the day cream because God knows I have enough of those...but I have no night cream so I just got that one, and check out the size of that facial cleanser! it's HUGE! haha It's 6 fl oz.
UPDATE!! - The facial cleanser made my face feel tight afterwards...and dry. I didn't use the moisturizer...i'm going to try that later, but still, i don't get that tight feeling with my Neutrogena Age-Reverse cleanser...(which i love, it's so creamy, has a beautiful white with gold sparkle formulation, and leaves my face soft and not tight feeling! We'll see, I'll continue using the Revaleskin anyway)

Okay so lastly, the nail polishes! I love these bright colours so I'm really excited to have gotten my hands on these. I have a really pretty pink that I made be mixing 2 polishes to get, i named it Disco Pink cuz it sometimes looks purple, then pink, then bright pink, then pink with a blue sheen....so pretty,i can't believe i made it! haha...so that's why no swatches for them but i've seen some on some other blogs. If you need to see it I will swatch it for you!! Just lemme know!

MY LIPSTICK & LIPGLOSS COLLECTION!!!!

I always see tags for top 10 fave lip products, etc, but looking at my collection, and thinking of my overly deep love for lip goodies i could never do that...I dunno, i have too many that I seriously love....and to rank them, and pick 10 I just can't....but anyway, I got a request to reveal my collection so here goes :)

Kryolan Lip Shine Circle....so pretty, and are long wearing too! Plus 6-in-1 how versatile is that!? Swatches are from clockwise from the top around to the gold...the middle one is just to give the ones on the outside an extra glossy look, it's red but goes on clear and has sparkle.

My customized mascara wand

Okay so I was watching a Pixiwoo video and Sam was raving about the Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara, the evidence supporting her raves were right before my very eyes too....made me a lil distraught because, I'm in Jamaica, there is no Rimmel out here...so for a while I would just watch the vids and it came to me, it seems that the brush has those rubber bristles like the Maybelline Define-A-Lash mascara wand. I love this mascara, one of my faves, it was my LOVE before L'Oreal's Carbon Black Voluminous came into my life....anyway, because I loved it so much I saved the brush, I don't remember why I didn't buy another one, maybe I just wanted to try out something else....anyway so I said geez I could probably make this brush...so out came the mustache scissors from my eyebrow things and I sat cutting away, trying to just make 3 'balls' on the wand....and...voila...

And nice long, think spidery (sans clumping) lashes!!!! This is the customized mascara brush with Rimmel's Extra Super Lash Mascara:

Hey hey hey! So i finally got my Milani Nail Polish in Totally Cool...which I showed a pic for in my last post thanks to Michele from Alllacqueredup.com!

But while I was off to get that, i found a nice yummy yellow, and I hadn't ever seen a yellow anywhere in JA before, so I HAD to get it! I was hesitant, because BRUCCI apparently refuses to become a part of the BIG 3 (Toulene, Dibutyl Pthalate and Formaldehyde free), but I still got it...I figure I just won't wear it as much or it will just have to do until I get a yellow that is in the BIG 3. I did find that, it was a bit hard to apply, it seems to have dried too quickly making it hard to correct while painting...if you get what I mean and on the occasion was a bit streaky but, it came out well after 2 coats!. It reminds me of Banana Bandana from OPI's Summer '09 Collection - SUNbelievable!

Jamaica, Jamaica!!

Okay, I guess I was feeling a little uninspired lately...because I didn't think I had anything to blog about but, I think what I can do is focus more on some Jamaican things! Like...did anyone see Nitro Circus on MTV that was filmed in Jamaica???...it was hilarious and authentic. It showed the likes of the Rough Riders, Krash Test Dummies and the Bobsled team! I loved it! T'was fun!

Usain Bolt, our legend and superstar athlete, was in an accident today...imagine the horror and shock waves sent around our tiny island?? Not cute! But I saw the local news and he's alright...got some cuts from the bushes he had to walk on when he came out the wreckage...Danggg...the beautiful spankin' new BMW M3 was totaled....it turned over and landed on its head. He is blessed...as well as the other passengers!! He's got an angel, boy!

Tami Chynn, one of my favourite local artistes, recently did a beautifully, fun performance at the Blue Beat in Montego Bay, St James - Jamaica. I'll put a link for it...you'll enjoy it :) Part 2 should pop up after part 1 is done...watch that too it's funny and wicked of course!

Also, i wanna try that Garnier Fructis' Bold It putty business....looks like it will give me some va-va-voom! Doesn't Garnier's lime green packaging just pop out at your eyes? You just can't miss it!

Jordana Incolor lip jelly gloss in 03 Watermelon Delight

Hey guys,

So I was walking around a nearby drugstore trying to find a nice coral lipgloss. So after my endless search I came across these little pot glosses, and decided to check them out. Immediately this pretty candy coloured pink one caught my eye, and that's the Watermelon Delite! I've been searching endlessly for a nice watermelon color so I decided to get it. It's really cheap too which is great! I just prayed and hoped that it would actually show up on my lips...I sometimes have trouble with things not showing up on me...so I bought it and I LOVE IT! I was greatly surprised by the beautiful pink color that was as a result of this little gem and not to mention it smells like a watermelon flavoured candy!! It's not sticky or anything but feels very moisturizing, it reminds me of MAC's Hello Kitty Popster tendertone!! Sooo...just thought I'd share a little drugstore goodie with you all :)

Also, I see myself using this over Mac's Myth lipstick to help make it wearable and a true baby pink...

Elle Magazine's A-Z Guide to Skin (August '08)

I was delighted to see this and thought I'd share :

A - Antioxidants - The pac-men of skin care, antioxidants-such as vitamins C & E, beta-carotene, and those within green tea and grape seed- gobble up the free radicals produced by factors like sun exposure (that is the excess of it, in my opinion), pollution, stress and cigarette smoke, neutralizing their skin-weakening powers. As part of a healthy diet, antioxidants reinforce tissue from the inside and as a key step in a daily skincare regimen.

B - Body Brush- An age-old cellulite buster, a dry, natural bristle body brush raises blood flow to the epidermis, revs up lymphatic drainage, and exfoliates dead cells.

C- Collagen - Along with elastin and hyaluronic acid, collagen provides the mesh framework that keeps skin plump, lifted and wrinkle-free. A strong fibrous protein, collagen is a multitasking antiager. You can help your body generate more of the good stuff by using topicals like retinol and vitamin c.
Sugar breaks down Collagen too so ease up off the sugars as much as possible! (My 2 Cents)

D- DHA- The active ingredient in self-tanners, DHA (dihydroxyacetone) reacts with the uppermost layer of dead skin cells, turning them brown. Results last about a week-less, if you exfoliate.
No more tanning beds ladies!!

E- Essential Oils - Plant derived oils, such as sandalwood and rose, can create the aroma behind your beloved eau de parfum and offer countless remedies: de-stress instantly in a lavender-infused bath; dab on tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic, to banish breakouts.

F- Fat - It may be loathsome when you're trying to squeeze into your skinny jeans, but facially speaking,fat is a major ally in turning back the clock. When injected, the springy cells plump the complexion, pushing out wrinkles and lighting sagging skin. (ok then!)

G- Grapes - (my fave fruit) - Grapes are the main source of the antiaging powerhouse reservatrol. When taken internally, this ingredient triggers health effects similar to a low-calorie diet and is believed to help prevent diseases including cancer and diabetes, as well as ward off weight gain and increase endurance. Found, within the skin of the fruit, reservatrol offers several complexion benefits when applied topically-amped-up collagen production, protection from UV damage, and defense against loss of elasticity.

H -Humectant - By drawing water from the air and skin's surface, humectants keep the underlying cells bouncy and moist. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most widely used; others include glycerin, urea and panthenol. (Honey is also an excellent humectant)

I - Ice - Sure, it soothes a twisted ankle but ice - or a chilled cloth or straight- from-the-fridge mask-is also the best way to calm overstressed skin and depuff undereye bags. Cool compresses constrict capillaries, forcing blood, redness and inflammation away from the skin's surface.

J - Juice- Grapefruits, Oranges, lemons and limes make more tan thirst-slaking, vitamin packed beverages. Fruit acids, part of the alpha-hydroxy family, have also proven to be brilliant exfoliants (citric and malic acids are two popular varieties). Unlike scrubs, which physically slough off dead tissue, fruit acids break apart the bonds holding together old cells in surface-dulling clumps. This action also encourages the formation of new cells, which not only makes the complexion radiant and fresh, but also evens tones and minimizes hyperpigmentation.

K - Vitamin K - Found in dark leafy greens such as spinach and kale, vitamin K helps build strong bones. Applied topically, it repairs broken vessels, zapping dark circles and accelerating bruise healing.

L- Line Fillers- From Restylane to CosmoDerm to Zyderm, fillers (made respectively of hylauronic acid, lab-produced human collagen, and bovine collagen) are injected under skin to erase lines and restore fullness. Needle-phobes should opt for creams and cosmetics that mimic the look with optical light diffusers.

M - Minerals - Big news in makeup, mineral formulas consist of natural substances like zinc oxide, ultramarine, and titanium dioxide. Since the particles don't penetrate the skin, they offer coverage with a low risk of irritation.

N - Niacin- A derivative of vitamin B3, niacin helps the digestive system convert to energy and assists nerve function. But skin-care gurus love it because niacin breaks down into nicotinic acid, which stimulates the release of leption, a hormone that's been shown to reduce hyperpigmentation. Applied twice a day, a niacin-enriched product could fade brown spots and other discoloration over time, and since it's gentle, niacin is well suited for delicate faces.

O - Oil - When it comes to creating the perfect skin cream, water and oil truly do mix. It's the ratio of these two ingredients that makes some textures feel thick and others slip on light and airy. But not all oils are created equal. Occlusive versions such as mineral oil lay on the skin's surface to create a protective barrier, while lighter formulas like jojoba seep into skin's cracks and crevices.

P - pH Balance- Harsh cleansers and sugary snacks are just a few of the factors that can upset skin's normal pH (4.0 to 5.5), causing flaking. To hit the reset button, forgo intense acid peels, chomp green veggies, and rehydrate with lotion.

Q - Quick Fix - Makeup artists know how to wake up lackluster skin in minutes without a drop of foundation. Apply a moisturizing mask (or just a rich cream) with a gentle, three-minute facial massage. The process relaxes muscles, accelerates microcirculation, and plumps lines to create a smoother surface and a temporary-but convincing-glow.

R - Retinoids - These chemical compounds are derived from vitamin A and assist in regulating cell growth. Available over the counter (Retin-A is the prescription version), retinoids are often used to reduce appearance of lines since they're so effective at getting skin cells to rebuild collagen and elastin. This rapid turnover can sometimes trigger sensitivity, however, so most docs suggest starting with retinoids every other night until skin adjusts to the new ingredient.

S - Sleep - Most studies recomment seven to eight hours of shut-eye per night for optimal health and beauty benefits. This is a time for full-body regeneration and skin repair, so derms often tell patients to apply treatments such as retinoids and pigmentation-reducers before going to bed, giving ingredients like glucosamine, which treats spots and lines, the ideal conditions under which to work their magic.

T - Tea - Whether brewed as soothing beverages or added to a daily skin cream, these antioxidant superstars (the most potent include green and white teas, along with Argentinian yerba maté) also contain large amounts of polyphenol, a known antiager. These types of tea have been scientifically proven to defend against the formation of certain cancers when sipped faily, and there's evidence that they fight free radicals, minimize UV effects and repair damaged cells when applied to the skin.

U - UV Blockers - The best lotions provide full-spectrum coverage by shielding against harmful (my addition) UVA and UVB rays. Look for labels listing avobenzone, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.
Remember however that Vitamin D is necessary for healthy living so we should try to get it in moderate amounts each day....15 minutes is good enough. (my 2 cents)

V - Vitamins - Just as a rainbow-color diet supercharges your energy level, your skin requires a full range of vitamins to keep up its glow. When mixed into your favourite treatment, vitamins play a major role in important skin functions such as speeding up healing, minimizing hyperpigmentation and boosting collagen.

W - Water - Up to 6- percent of your body is made of water, so it's no surprise, H2O plays a major role within the skin. When cells are adequately hydrated, they're able to ward off signs of aging, such as wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and inflammation, thereby promoting a dewy glow and clear complexion. To amp up your skin's moisture level, slather on a hydrating cream while skin is damn and load up on essential-fatty-acid-rich foods containing omega-3 and linoleic acid to help maintain tissue's water content from the inside.

X - X-Factor - Your friend's miracle cream is your oil spill? Your sister loves retinoids, but you can't tolerate them? Call it the complexion X- factor: variations in tone, pore size, texture, and sensitivity that mean no product is one size fits all. The best face-saver for you is the one designed for your skin type.

Y - Yogurt- Low levels of lactic and alpha hydroxy acids make plain yogurt an ideal DIY exfoliant (leave on for 5 minutes then rinse) even for those with sensitive skin, while its probiotic content beats bad bacteria effectively on the skin's surface just as it does within the body.

Z - Zinc- Dandruff-fighters have relied on zinc-based shampoos for decades, but the mineral's many skin-care uses-as an anti-inflammatory that clears up eczema regulates oil production, and kills off pore-clogging bacteria-are a relatively recent discovery.

So there you have it....a guide to beautiful skin from A-Z!
My 2 cents: Coconut oil is an excellent skin care product too, it has calmed many an irritated spot on my face for me. :)

Hey Hey Hey!!!So i was looking for a really nice yummy orange nail polish and came across this.

In the store, it looked orange in the bottle but when the light hit it, it showed up this lovely pink sparkle..so i had to get it! It reminds me of spring, and tropical islands and it's just bright and pretty! :)

Doesn't it look a lot more orange in the daylight? :) It's so pretty! :) It's not the bright neon orange I wanted...although I did get that too...hopefully will post a pic of that next week or so when I change my polish.

A Look For All Skin Tones!!!!

Bustin' out some of the real jamaican patois for you guys...:)

Okay, so being an avid youtuber, I realized that, most of the prominent makeup gurus are light skinned and of the ones that are dark skinned, in my humble opinion, aren't as good at the looks as the light skinned ones...so all in all, there are just not enough GREAT ones for the darker skinned gals. I mean let's face it, MAC ricepaper eyeshadow could potentially be too 'white' looking on someone with a NW45 complexion.

So i decided that I'm gonna do a look that will suit all skin tones.
I have done makeup on a lot of dark skinned ladies and so I have a pretty good idea of what can work on them as well as lighter skinned.

This was inspired by the Natasha Bedingfield "Soulmate" video...i love it...in it she has a beautiful shimmery smokey brown look going on with nude lips...so that's where we're goin today...ENJOY!!

Well, I'm 23 years old, I was born and live in the beautiful island of Jamaica, and I love to talk and type...so i thought hey, why not blog! I have lots of opinions on things and hopefully some people will be interested! :)
I have lots of passions/loves: GOD, music (I'm a singer/musician), beauty (I'm a makeup artist), television, and motivating people.
